Do the youth get help from staff or volunteers in order to do well when released?

Release plans eg. job, school, counselling are always offered some residents find good relationships, but it is not always that way. The youth has to put in the effort to change.


Where is the school focused?

The school is focused in a certain area of the centre. There are different parts for closed custody and open.


How's the food?

The menu is set by the province, and is approved by dieticians. We get more food than the adult facility.


Is there any community service work done by the center?

The center volunteers at the SPCA, Prince George Theatre Workshop, and several other things.


Are there any decisions made by the youth to improve anything?

There are youth advisory meetings. Every unit chooses a representative whom will bring about information on what needs to be fixed in their units or ideas on how to use their welfare fund money e.g. collect pop cans for movies, invest in a VCR or computer for unit etc.


How is the support for the kids outside of the center?

The residents have the opportunity to do many things, sometimes it is difficult for them to get a job or a place to stay, but there is always a lot of effort put in by staff and other contacts to help out.


How is the attitude of the kids there when someone is doing well?

There is a lot of support by residents and staff. The kids are encouraged to do well and it is great when someone does.
