Aiken, Conrad (Potter)

(1889--1973)

Poet and novelist, born in Savannah, Gerorgia,. Conrad Aiken studied at Harvard, and made his name with his first collection of verse, Earth Triumphant (1914). His Selected Poems was awarded the 1930 Pulitzer Prize. He also wrote short stories and novels, including the autobiographical novel Ushant (1952).
